Indulge in the Delight of Giant, Soft M&M Cookies

Here’s a super simple recipe for big, soft M&M cookies that are perfect for lifting your spirits any day of the week. These are some of my go-to cookies because they’re just so yummy and easy to make.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups flour (plus an extra 2-3 tablespoons if needed)
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups M&M’s

Instructions:

  1. Start by preheating your oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Grab a large bowl and combine the brown sugar, white sugar, shortening, eggs, and vanilla. Mix these with an electric mixer on low until everything is nicely blended.
  3. Next, add in the 2 1/2 cups of flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix these until just combined—it might be easier to mix with your hands towards the end.
  4. If the dough feels too sticky, sprinkle in those extra tablespoons of flour until it’s thick and feels a bit dry.
  5. Now for the fun part: fold in the M&M’s.
  6. Shape the dough into large balls and press some more M&M’s on the top for that extra candy crunch. Flatten them slightly with your hand or the back of a spoon.
  7. Bake the cookies for about 8-10 minutes. They should still be a bit soft in the middle.
  8. Once done, quickly remove them from the cookie sheet and let them cool on a rack. Give them about 5-10 minutes to firm up a bit.

Pro Tip: I like to add a bit more flour to keep the cookies from flattening out too much. If you accidentally add too much and the cookies won’t flatten during baking, just press them down a bit before they go in the oven.

There you have it—delicious, soft M&M cookies that are sure to be a hit!
