Classic Homemade Oreos: A Nostalgic Treat

Imagine whipping up a batch of homemade Oreos that will change your dessert game forever! These cookies are not just any cookies—they’re a delightful blend of rich, dense chocolate goodness paired with a luscious cream cheese frosting that’s simply irresistible.

Ingredients:

For the cookies:

  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 box Devil’s Food cake mix

For the frosting:

  • 8 oz. cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups powdered sugar

Instructions:

  1. Start by beating the eggs, butter, and vanilla together with an electric mixer until smooth. Then, gradually mix in the cake mix until everything is well combined.
  2. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. While the oven warms up, roll the cookie dough into small balls, about one or two tablespoons each, and place them on a baking sheet. If the dough feels too soft, pop it in the fridge for about 30 minutes to firm up.
  3. Bake the cookies for 8 minutes. Once done, remove them from the oven and let them cool completely.
  4. For the frosting, beat the cream cheese, butter, vanilla, and powdered sugar together until the mixture is creamy and smooth.
  5. To assemble, simply pipe a swirl of frosting on one cookie and gently press another cookie on top to form a sandwich.

Enjoy your homemade Oreos right away, or store them in the refrigerator. If it’s chilly enough, you might even stash them on your porch to keep them extra cool!

This simple recipe brings a touch of homemade magic to your kitchen, perfect for any occasion or just a sweet treat to brighten your day.
