Experience the Kick: Spicy Chili Chicken Wontons

Get ready for a flavor-packed meal! We’re making chicken wontons with a spicy kick, swimming in a savory broth with shiitake mushrooms. Here’s how you can whip up this dish:

Ingredients:

  • 3 tablespoons of sesame oil, divided
  • 14 ounces of sliced shiitake mushrooms
  • 1 clove of garlic, grated
  • A 12-ounce bag of frozen wontons (mini chicken cilantro ones are a good choice)
  • 1 to 2 cups of chicken broth (depending on how brothy you want it)
  • 1/2 cup of teriyaki sauce
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons of chili crisp
  • For toppings: sliced green onions and sesame seeds

Instructions:

  1. Heat up 1 tablespoon of sesame oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Toss in the mushrooms and sauté them until they’re soft and delicious. Add the garlic in the last minute or two of sautéing.
  2. Next, add the frozen wontons, chicken broth, and teriyaki sauce to the skillet. Let it all simmer for about 5 minutes with a lid on, until the wontons are heated through.
  3. Finish off the dish by drizzling the remaining 2 tablespoons of sesame oil and the chili crisp. Sprinkle sesame seeds and scallions on top for that extra touch.

This whole process should take about 15 minutes – 5 minutes for prep and 10 minutes for cooking. Enjoy your Asian-inspired main dish!
