Sizzling Sheet Pan BBQ Tofu Delight

Here’s a super simple way to make BBQ Tofu that’s absolutely delicious! First, grab two 16-ounce packages of extra firm tofu. You’ll need to press out the excess liquid, which you can do with a tofu press or by wrapping the tofu in a towel and placing a heavy pan on top for about 10-15 minutes. Once that’s done, cut the tofu into cubes.

Next, mix together 2 tablespoons of cornstarch, 1/4 cup of brown sugar, 1 tablespoon of smoked paprika, 1 teaspoon each of chili powder, onion powder, and garlic powder, and 2 teaspoons of kosher salt. Gently toss the tofu cubes in this spice mix, making sure they’re well coated but still intact. Lay them out on a baking sheet and drizzle a little olive oil over them to keep them from sticking. Pop them in the oven preheated to 425 degrees and bake for 30-45 minutes. You’re aiming for a lightly golden and somewhat dry exterior.

While the tofu is baking, you can prepare whatever you’d like to go with it. This could be anything from quinoa, rice, roasted sweet potatoes, green beans, corn, zucchini, tomatoes, mushrooms, or even some spicy coleslaw. Just mix some pre-shredded cabbage coleslaw with a bit of mayo, salt, and Sriracha—vegan mayo works great too!

For sauces, feel free to drizzle over some hot sauce, green tahini, magic green sauce, or my personal favorite, honey or honey mustard (though keep in mind honey isn’t vegan).

This BBQ tofu is perfect for meal prep as it keeps well in the fridge for 3-4 days. You can reheat it in a pan to crisp it up again, or if you’re in a pinch, the microwave does a fine job too. Enjoy your meal, and don’t forget to snap a photo for Instagram before you dig in!
