Savor the Essence of Greece with Succulent Pork Pitas

Here’s a delicious recipe for Greek Pork Pitas that’s perfect for a hearty meal. You’ll need about 3 pounds of pork shoulder with the fat trimmed off. Chop up an onion and mince three cloves of garlic. Season the pork with a tablespoon of oregano, a teaspoon each of salt, onion powder, and black pepper.

You can cook the pork in two ways: slow cook it on low for 10-12 hours or use an Instant Pot on the meat/stew setting for about 45 minutes. Once the pork is tender, shred it and mix it back into the juices.

For assembling the pitas, grab some pitas and slather them with tzatziki. Add your favorite toppings like lettuce, tomatoes, red onion, feta cheese, and a squeeze of lemon.

A quick tip for Instant Pot users: if you’re using an Instant Pot Duo, add a cup of water to avoid the burn warning and cook for 60 minutes to make sure the pork is extra tender.

I like to wrap my pitas (stuffed with pork, tomatoes, and other fillings) in foil and warm them in a 350-degree oven for a few minutes to make them soft. Top them off with more tzatziki, parsley, feta, and a drizzle of lemon juice.

If you’re planning to share this meal, simply pack the cooked or uncooked pork in a freezer bag with cooking instructions. Include a bag of pitas, some tzatziki (store-bought or homemade), a jar of sun-dried tomatoes, a lemon, a bag of parsley, and some feta cheese. It’s a great meal to give away!

This recipe takes about 15 minutes to prepare and 35 minutes to cook, making it a fantastic choice for a Mediterranean-inspired dinner. Enjoy your Greek pork pitas!
